An Arcadia man died Friday morning in Chowchilla after he failed to stop at a stop sign and was broadsided by another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 68-year-old man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, was driving south on Robinson Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. Robinson dead-ends at Avenue 18 1/2, but the man attempted to stop too late and ended up in the middle of Avenue 18 1/2.
Another vehicle driven by Jose Torres Sanchez, 36, of Madera, was traveling west on Avenue 18 1/2 at the same time. He braked but was unable to avoid the man’s stopped car.
The injured man was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
