Several Hospitalized Including One with Major Injuries and Children Pinned in Vehicle
MADERA, CALIFORNIA (August 22, 2015) – A head-on collision resulting in major injuries occurred at the intersection of Avenue 9 and Road 35 Saturday morning, according to California Highway Patrol Officers.
As per CHP, a white Chevrolet 3500 pick-up truck and a van crashed head-on shortly before 9 a.m. The driver of one of the vehicles involved was reported to have been recklessly driving prior to the crash.
Both vehicles overturned following the collision. Children were reportedly pinned in at least one vehicle.
Fire department personnel along with the paramedics responded to the scene to extricate the young victims from the vehicle. The dispatch mentioned that several patients were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
At least one person was believed to have suffered major injuries.
According to CHP, a man named Frank Muro Jr. was reported as the driver of one of the vehicles involved.
Authorities will continue to investigate to determine liability.
