Tyler Hormel, a Chowchilla police officer who was arrested on Monday for alleged sexual misconduct with a minor, is no longer working for the City of Chowchilla, according to Chowchilla Police Department.
The decision was announced, in a news release that was issued Wednesday afternoon by the Chowchilla Police Department. In a statement, officials said the department’s internal investigation related to Hormel’s arrest has concluded, and that Hormel is no longer employed by the City of Chowchilla, effective immediately.
According to a news release issued Monday by Madera County Sheriff’s office, Hormel was assigned as a School Resource Officer, and that the alleged misconduct happened in Madera County, unrelated to any of the school sites Hormel was assigned to.
In addition, Madera County Sheriff Jay Varney said, in a statement, that there is no evidence that shows the alleged misconduct occurred, while Hormel was on duty, or acting in any official capacity.
