California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a crash that left two men dead overnight east of Madera.
It happened just before midnight on Avenue 145, east of Road 29. Officers say a Ford Explorer crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into a GMC Jimmy. The drivers both vehicles were killed.
“I believe there’s alcohol, beer bottles, beer cans in the back seat that were located upon our arrival,” said Officer Greg Rodriguez, California Highway Patrol.
The one person inside the GMC was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
The two drivers killed in the crash have not been identified.
