Domestic dispute leads to arrest | Madera County Sheriffs Department

about 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, Madera County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 38000 block of Road 415 in regards to a domestic disturbance. Deputies were told the caller’s estranged husband was at her home, yelling at her and trying to break down the front door with a hatchet. He also struck her vehicle several times with his hatchet.

As deputies were responding, the caller reported that she had heard a gunshot and thought her husband had a shotgun. While deputies were still on their way to the residence, the caller further reported she heard more gunshots, and that she thought her estranged husband was suicidal and may shoot himself.

Once they arrived, deputies could not immediately locate the suspect because he had run into a wooded area behind the house. However, they could hear him yelling and heard several gunshots.

The CHP helicopter, H40, as well as a Mariposa Sheriff’s K9 unit and several CHP Officers responded to assist. Deputies also drove the sheriff’s armored vehicle to the scene for added protection as they searched for the suspect.

Lucas Caleb Roduner was eventually located by the CHP helicopter crew near Road 612 and Red Hawk Lane. The crew then guided deputies, CHP officers, and the Mariposa K9 unit to Roduner, and he was safely taken into custody.

A 12-gauge shotgun, several knives, and a hatchet were recovered. Roduner was booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections, and will be charged with felony vandalism and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
