Officials are investigating a woman’s death on Highway 99. She was killed just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday — just north of Avenue 16.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) says a big rig drifted into the woman’s car, hitting it. After the accident, investigators say the woman pulled her car over in the fast lane and got out of the car. That’s when they say she stepped out onto the road, and was hit by an oncoming car.
The woman’s name hasn’t been released, but officers say she was in her 70’s. She was traveling with a passenger, who stayed in the car and is okay.
All drivers involved are cooperating with the investigation.
