There has been an increase in vehicle burglaries recently, and the Madera Police Department has increased patrol activity in the areas hit the hardest. Tonight, at about 3:00 AM, Sergio Franco was contacted while looking into a parked vehicle near N D Street and Cleveland Ave. In his backpack officers located several tools commonly associated with committing thefts. He had over 40 keys, many modified, a cordless drill, two sets of gloves, bolt cutters, a pry bar and a hand sledge hammer. It is believed that Franco is connected to several of the thefts over the past few weeks. Franco was booked into the Madera County jail. DF 3621.
