A shooting suspect has been arrested in Madera County following a short manhunt this morning, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office has reported.
Deputies are investigating two connected incidents of a shooting and car crash this morning.
Few details were immediately available regarding the arrest.
The violence occurred on Avenue 7 between Road 24 and Road 25 in Madera County.
One person was injured in the shooting, authorities said.
The suspect, identified as Alvaro Molina, about 25-years-old, fled the scene on foot and was described as armed and dangerous.
The shooting was linked to a vehicle collision the California Highway Patrol responded to about 7:45 a.m.
The violence occurred on Avenue 7 between Road 24 and Road 25.
“It appears the people in the two different cars got into a fight and shots were fired,” said sheriff’s Lt. Bill Ward. He said the vehicle driven by the suspect, a pickup truck, collided with the female victim’s car, then struck a power pole and overturned.
The woman was taken to a Fresno hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
Ward said the suspect, identified as Alvaro Molina, 25, fled on foot. The CHP and sheriff’s deputies, along with personnel from other law-enforcement agencies, set up a perimeter. A CHP helicopter joined the search.
The suspect was arrested about 10:30 a.m. at Avenue 7 and Road 24, Ward said.
