Madera company’s employees do pushups to raise $50,000 to help vets, active-duty military | Fresno Bee

A Madera company that makes lighting fixtures has raised $50,000 for an organization that helps U.S. military veterans, active-duty military and their families with housing, career and educational needs.

B-K Lighting’s sales force took part in the “Challenge Accepted: Pushups for Charity,” a national campaign to raise funds for the Boot Campaign. That is a Texas-based organization that helps veterans with basic needs, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder treatment.

The idea was to ask donors to back each employee’s effort to do as many pushups as possible in 90 seconds.

Becky Carlson, marketing manager for B-K Lighting, said the employees raised $25,000. The company matched that with a $25,000 donation.

Now comes the payback: B-K employees and those from subsidiary companies will do their pushups at the company picnic Saturday at Wonder Valley Ranch near Sanger.
