1 killed when car goes out of control on Highway 99 in Madera County | Fresno Bee

A driver is dead after a solo crash on northbound Highway 99 in Madera County early Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 4:50 a.m. The CHP said drivers reported to 911 that the car was passing others before the driver lost control and rolled off the Avenue 18 1/2 onramp. CHP said it landed 70 feet off the roadway.

CHP said alcohol is suspected as a factor. The driver was identified as a 25-year-old from Turlock. His name was not released pending notification of relatives.
