CHOWCHLLA, Calif. (KFSN) —
An officer-involved shooting in Chowchilla left a suspect dead late Thursday night.
The shooting happened near Fourth and Alameda Avenues at around 11 p.m. Authorities say an officer spotted a man intentionally starting a fire in the area and confronted him.
Witnesses say Chowchilla Police Department and California Highway Patrol officers repeatedly told the suspect to drop an object, possibly a weapon, before firing.
The suspect, only identified as being in his 20s, died at the scene.
Authorities are in the area investigating what led up to the shooting.
